:) BSNL Broadband

BSNL is the market leader in broadband services with 60+ percentage share in India. Most of these connections are provided using ADSL2+(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Plus) technology on it's existing land-line infrastructure.

ADSL2+ technology provides download speed upto 24Mbit/s and upload speed upto 1.4Mbit/s.

BSNL broadband can be availed in two ways:
  1. If you already have a landline connection, you can get broadband as addon to landline. You need to pay monthly charges for landline plan plus broandband plan.
  2. Combo plan: Provides both broadband and landline in a single plan. Prefer this if your primary requirement is broadband.

How much does it cost initially for a new connection?


You need to buy a ADSL modem either from BSNL or from outside. Basic modem is available for around Rs.1000/-. If you want Wireless connectivity(Wi-Fi), you need to spend more. BSNL also provides modem on monthly rental basis. Installation charges for landline Rs.500/-, installation charges for broadband Rs.250/, deposit for Local/STD facility Rs.500/- and one month plan rental in advance.

Ex: If you opt for BB Home Combo ULD 650 plan, approximate initial cost will be:

Rs.1500(wireless modem) + Rs.750(installation charges LL/BB) + Rs.500(Local/STD deposit) + Rs.650(one month plan rent advance),  which totals to  Rs.3400/-.

Second month onwards:


You need to pay your monthly plan rental + voice call usage charges (if any) + service tax(12.36%).

Get discount of 1/3/6 months FMC by paying for 11/21/30 months in advance and use for 1/2/3 years.

If you are a Central Govt/State Govt/PSU employee, you are eligible for 20% discount on plan rental and usage charges.

Combo Unlimited Broadband Plans:

You can activate SMS vouchers, GPRS packs, 3G data RCVs offered by BSNL through SMS. Cost of the voucher will be deducted from your main account balance.

BSNL STV's AP Circle

Special tariff vouchers are available for prepaid BSNL customers in AP circle, to get reduced call,SMS and data charges. These are available for both 2G&3G customers.

Reduced SMS and free data usage is applicable on roaming also. Reduced voice and video rates are not applicable in roaming.
